Our Legacy of Fueling Connecticut Since 1925
1925
John J. Sullivan establishes the business with a three-pump gas station, a single truck, and oil and kerosene sold in five-gallon cans
1925-1940s
The company expands into new areas, including a satellite Buick dealership, grocery sales, fuel deliveries, and sand/gravel sales (the current oil storage area is still nicknamed “the pit” from this time).
Early 1940s
Following John J. Sullivan’s passing, ownership transfers to his sons, Tom and John F. While both serve in WWII, family friend and neighbor Judge Conway manages the business.
1945
Tom and John F. return home; John F. acquires Tom’s portion of the business.
1950s
The company relocates from Boston Post Road to River Street in Guilford, CT.
Mid-1950s
The business shifts focus primarily to fuel deliveries.
1963
Partners with Sheehan Oil, expanding fuel delivery services. Begins offering preventative maintenance and heating system repairs.
1988
Merges with Knowles-Lombard, continuing steady growth.
Mid-1990s
John F. retires and passes the business to his sons John, Paul, and Jim.
2005
Expands services to include air conditioning, led by Paul with assistance from John’s son, JP.
2010
John retires.
2011
Expansion into propane services begins.
2015
Paul retires.
2016
Merges with Madison Oil.
2025
Breaks ground on a bulk propane storage facility in North Branford.
