Oil, Propane & HVAC FAQs

Q: What are your fuel company hours?

A: J.J. Sullivan Oil & Propane is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is also available 24/7 for heating emergencies.

Q: What are your oil and propane prices?

A: You can view today’s low fuel oil and propane gas prices right here on our home page. If you’re interested in signing up for a convenient pricing or prepay plan, you can check out all your options on our payment plan page.

Q: Do I really need annual heating and cooling system maintenance?

A: Yes! Your yearly tune-up is a critical part of the safe and efficient operation of your furnace, boiler, or air conditioning system. Skipping out could result in an expensive breakdown, a no-heat emergency, and/or poor fuel efficiency all year. You can schedule your tune-up online or enroll in a service plan, which includes your tune-up along with other perks and benefits.

Q: Should I get a central air conditioner or a ductless mini-split unit?

A: Great question. While both options are affordable and effective, we recommend central A/C for homes with existing ductwork and ductless A/C for homes without it. Additionally, ductless units are excellent for affordable zoned cooling along with additions, sunrooms, attics, garages, basements, and other areas your ductwork can’t reach. If you’d like a personalized recommendation, you can always contact our experts to request a free consultation.

Q: What is IAQ and why is it important?

A: IAQ, or Indoor Air Quality, is an important component in your home comfort. Have you ever experienced dry skin or a sore throat? Chances are the air was too dry, causing you discomfort. Other issues can happen when the air is too humid, such as furniture swelling and mold growth. Finally, particulates in your air can be harmful to the health of your family, and eliminating them is your best option. To request assistance with improving your indoor air quality, check out your equipment options and request IAQ service.

Q: How can I spend less on home comfort?

A: A few of our favorite tips for saving money are to turn down your thermostat a bit during the winter, raise it a little during the summer, caulk all leaks in windows and doors, find a reputable home comfort provider, schedule preventative maintenance, and enroll in service and payment plans.

Q: How quickly can I expect my oil or propane delivery?

A: Your safety and comfort are our top priority, so we try to deliver all heating fuel orders within 24 hours. However, order volume and inclement weather can affect our delivery schedule, which is why we always recommend automatic fuel delivery. This program is free of charge and allows us to manage your fuel oil and propane orders, removing pressure from your shoulders. Simply email us to sign up!

Q: Where do you deliver oil and propane fuel to?

A: Our oil and propane delivery areas can be found on right here on our service area page! If you don’t see your Southern Connecticut town, feel free to contact us to suggest an addition.
